FAQs

About Kadoga

What is Kadoga?

Kadoga is a local pet sitting exchange in Munich. Instead of paying with money, members care for each other’s dogs and cats using Kadoga Points (KP), a community currency. This creates a trusted network of pet owners who both give and receive care.

Where does Kadoga operate?

Kadoga is currently operating in Munich, Germany and Victoria, Canada. Each city builds its own local community of members.

As each community grows and becomes established, we plan to expand to additional cities over time.

What services can I arrange?

Currently, members can arrange:

  • Dog overnight stays (at the sitter’s or owner’s home)

  • Hourly dog care

  • Cat visits (short daily visits in the cat’s home)

Additional formats and pet types may be added in the future.

Can non-pet owners join?

Yes. Non-pet owners can join as a “Friend of Kadoga.”

Friends may offer care to other members. Pet owners still use Kadoga Points for these sits, but the points are directed to a community pool rather than to the Friend directly.

Friends pay a reduced annual membership fee for access to the platform but do not earn or use Kadoga Points.

How is Kadoga different from traditional pet sitting platforms?

Kadoga is not a marketplace where you browse sitter profiles and pay nightly fees. Instead, it’s a local community of pet owners who exchange care using Kadoga Points.

Members both give and receive care. Over time, completed pet sits build your Trusted Network, so future requests connect you first with people you already know and trust.

The focus is on reciprocity, local relationships, and long-term participation rather than one-time bookings.

Trust & Safety

Who will look after my pet?

You’re always in control. When you submit a request, matching members are notified. You review who responds and choose the person you feel most comfortable with.

Over time, completed sits build your Trusted Network, so future requests connect first with people you already know and trust.

Do I meet the sitter before confirming?

Yes. Members are strongly encouraged to arrange an in-person meet and greet before confirming a pet sit.

For dogs, this may include a short walk or play session to ensure both the pet and sitter feel comfortable. For longer stays (more than one night), a trial night is recommended whenever possible.

These steps help build trust and ensure that everyone feels confident before the actual pet sit takes place.

Is Kadoga insured?

Kadoga does not currently provide insurance coverage for pet sits. Members are responsible for arranging care at their own discretion.

What if something goes wrong during a pet sit?

Kadoga facilitates connections between members, but individual pet sit arrangements are made directly between participants.

If an issue arises, members are expected to communicate and resolve it respectfully. In cases of serious concern, Kadoga may review the situation and take appropriate action within the community.

What if my dog is reactive or has special needs?

Members should clearly describe their pet’s behavior, medical needs, and temperament in their profile and when making requests.

Open communication helps ensure that sits are only arranged when both parties feel confident and prepared.

Membership & Cost

How much does membership cost?

During the initial launch, joining is free. Paid memberships will begin once the community is fully active.

Founding Members in Munich can lock in a €49 annual rate.

Standard membership is planned at €99 per year.

Why is Kadoga a paid community?

Kadoga operates as a paid membership community to support its ongoing development and maintenance.

A membership structure also creates a shared sense of responsibility. When members contribute financially, they’re more likely to participate actively, communicate clearly, and treat the exchange with care.

When do I start paying?

During the initial launch, joining is free. Members will be notified in advance before any paid memberships begin.

Kadoga Points

What are Kadoga Points (KP)?

Kadoga Points (KP) are the community currency used to exchange pet care. You earn KP by hosting or visiting pets and use them when you need care for your own.

What happens if I run out of Kadoga Points?

If you run out of KP, you’ll need to earn more by hosting or visiting pets before requesting additional care. The system is designed to stay balanced over time. However, if you are in a jam, you can always reach out to work something out.

Do Kadoga Points expire?

No. Earned KP do not expire as long as your membership remains active.

If you pause or cancel your membership, your points are frozen until you return. If you delete your account, all KP are permanently removed.

Can I buy or transfer Kadoga Points?

No. Kadoga Points cannot be purchased, gifted, or transferred. They are earned through participation in the community to keep the exchange fair and balanced.

Logistics

How are members matched?

When you submit a pet sit request, Kadoga identifies members who match your needs, taking into account location, care requirements, and other relevant details.

Those matching members are then notified. If they’re interested, you’re connected so you can review and choose who to continue with.

How local are members?

Kadoga focuses on connecting members within Munich. Matching prioritizes proximity to make pet sits practical and convenient.

What if plans change?

Members should communicate directly with each other if plans change. Clear communication and early notice help maintain trust within the community.
